Holidays are not far away.

This term has gone super quick and we have school holidays next week. I hope you all have an awesome break and enjoy some rest and relaxation.
During the holidays it is a good idea to keep up with what we have been learning. Below is a short list of things you could do at home:

Writing:
Encourage your child to keep a holiday diary.
Write about an important event.
Write about what they miss at school.
Write a letter to a friend.
Write about anything they like!

Reading:
Keep up with learning the words on the word card. Encourage them to write the word also.
Reading Eggs website offers a free two week trial. I highly recommend this site as it is very engaging and motivating. http://readingeggs.co.nz/parents/signup/
Read to your child and get them to help you with some words.
Have a visit to the public library and pick some books.

Maths:
Use numbers in an everyday sense e.g. baking, counting items, adding and subtracting with everyday objects. There is no need to sit down and focus on maths as it can become a part of things we do everyday.

Websites:
Youtube has many fun songs and educational videos. The children particularly like Alphablocks.
Have a search on the net to learn about things that happen during their holidays. For example, you might see an interesting bird and animal and the children can learn some facts about. They might even be able to make a poster about it to share with the class!

What is most important is to have fun while they are learning! See you all in term 4
