This is amazing!

We coloured in the pictures with a partner and then we used the coLAR Mix app on the iPad to make them come to life! We were very excited to see our picture moving around. Once we experimented with them we wrote stories about what we could see. (For this app to work, you need to visit their website to print off) the pictures.

Here is a screen shot of a couple of our pictures.

Ronald McDonald Road Safety Show

On Monday we watched a Show about road safety. Ronald McDonald taught us how to cross the road safely and that we need to look out for "sneaky" driveways. He was really funny and we all enjoyed the show. We also learnt  a lot!

Writing Competition

At the end of term 3, Hukanui School had a writing competition. I am very happy to say that one of our children in Room 26 was chosen as a finalist. Well done to Lucy Hadley for writing a super story about frogs. Here is a picture of Lucy with her certificate and prize that she received.

Keeping Ourselves Safe

From the Hukanui School Newsletter 17.10.13
KEEPING OURSELVES SAFE PROGRAMME
This term all classes will be involved in this programme starting in week 3. Keeping Ourselves
Safe (KOS) is a positive personal safety (child protection) programme that is taught from early
childhood through to secondary school. It aims to provide children and young people with the
confidence and skills to cope with situations that might involve abuse. It helps them keep themselves safe in their interactions with other people. It has successfully run in our school for
many years on alternate years. It will be taken by classroom teachers with support from Adrienne Clark our Police Community Officer. Classroom teachers will be sending letters home when the programme starts which will let you know what things have been discussed in class and how you can support at home. Parents who are new to this programme are welcome to attend an information session next Tuesday 22 October at 2.30 pm in the staffroom.
